• James Reid, Jamie, was raised by an environmental lawyer and an English teacher, both early skeptics of neural implants. They taught Jamie discernment when it came to every aspect of life. Be curious, ask questions, but never blindly follow. As time passed, Jamie's parents became publicly distrustful of the implants and vocal in their community. The Fall ended any ability to speak out. Jamie and his parents, dubbed free thinkers by their neighbors, were dragged away and forcibly implanted.
  
  
• Looking back on it, memories of his time under the veil feel muted as if the color was drained out of life, happy and content but nothing more. Jamie was 16 when he was implanted and carried on with life. He finished school and continued on to university before finding a job at a primary school. It was during those years teaching, that Jamie's implant began failing causing pieces of reality to resurface in his mind. He did not immediately go to a mind clinic and instead his implant failed before he could. Through a stroke of luck, Jamie became connected with a member of Dislinked who helped him travel safely to Nelson, New Zealand; one of the unVeiled communities under their protection.
  
  
• Anger was one of the first and most enduring emotion Jamie felt upon being unVeiled and the early months in New Zealand were agonizing. After years of being shielded from negative feelings, it took a long time for any extreme to feel normal again. Being among other people who experienced the same thing helped. He clung to any interaction during this time because to him, it was precious. Slowly, but surely he started to reacclimate to a new normal and did everything he could to be a functioning member of the community.
  
  
• After five years in Nelson, Dislinked approached him about the possibility of joining and because Jamie wanted to do more, to feel useful, and fight back against the Architects, he agreed. After the initial onboarding process, Jamie initially joined the Espionage Cell in supplies, giving back to the people he felt saved him. When the Area Prep unit was formed, Jamie was tapped to join the team and felt ready to tackle a new challenge.
